Moving money around the world should be as easy and cheap as sending a message. No matter where you live, what you do, or how much you earn. Diem is a global currency and financial infrastructure that makes it possible for billions of people around the world to exchange money easily and affordably. The project was created by Facebook as a way provide people everywhere with access to safe and affordable financial services.

We played a fundamental role in building the Diem brand prior to its global debut. Our team worked directly with Diem’s leaders on everything from their website to the logo, illustrations, presentations, events and merchandise. We are proud to have played a role in bringing Diem to life.

THE CHALLENGE

Reinvent money for the global economy.

The old ways of doing things in finance are no longer sustainable in the 21st century. Moving money across the globe is still a slow, expensive, and cumbersome process, even for the wealthiest individuals. Our challenge was to create a trustworthy and innovative brand that would empower people and businesses around the world to live better lives.

THE APPROACH

Create a brand that reflects
the world we live in.

We created a simple, yet flexible brand identity that could be easily adapted to different cultures and markets around the world. Our branding features imagery of people from all walks of life, from small business owners in Mexico City to rural families in Uganda. We shared real stories about the people who will use our services, which helped to bring our message to life and connect with people on a personal level. We created a brand that is both inclusive and approachable, reflecting the diversity of our audience and the world we live in.

THE RESULT

Silvergate Bank purchased the Diem Group

We helped Diem launch their brand and build a positive reputation in the media. Our work attracted a diverse group of contributors who helped build the Diem Payment Network. However, after three years of work, it became clear that the project could not move forward due to regulatory concerns. Silvergate has since purchased the Diem Group’s assets and is well-positioned to take this vision forward.
